Vertical Knowledge Systems - Seeing like a Satellite
My current research examines planetary imaging systems—how satellite imagery is captured, processed, and circulated—and the ways these technologies shape dominant narratives of place and visibility. I investigate how vertical knowledge systems influence what becomes visible and what remains hidden, questioning the authority of remote sensing in representing landscapes in flux.
Through this practice, I explore how alternative image-making processes might foster critical literacy around mediated representation and reclaim visual sovereignty.
