Fluorescence

King Island's tungsten ore is scheelite. Scheelite fluoresces blue-white under ultraviolet light, and this is how it was prospected: lamps passed over the ground at night, waiting for the rock to glow. Here the same ultraviolet light is passed over both of the island's harvests — the ore, and bull kelp fragments left on the beach by the harvesters.
